primary school survey results

Minister for Education and Youth Hildegarde Naughton recently published the results of the Primary School Survey, providing the most comprehensive picture to date of the views and preferences of parents and guardians on the future direction of primary education in their local communities.

The survey gathered the views of both parents of children currently attending primary school and parents of children yet to enter the school system. It explored preferences regarding school patronage and ethos, co-educational or single-sex provision and language of instruction.

Pictured above are the results from parents and guardians with children in An Cosán Community Special School.

Results from parents/guardians with children not yet in school are not included in this report.

Next steps

The Department of Education and Youth has written to all schools and provided comprehensive information, including on how to understand the survey results and asking each school to reflect on their school-specific report, engage with their school community and consider if the school wishes to request to be included in the first group of schools to action the Primary School Survey results.
